Ambling through Elizabeth Garden is a great way to end your day trip here as you take in the peaceful surroundings of the lavish grounds created to win the heart of the Queen.

Another castle that simply has to be seen when on holiday in Warwickshire is Warwick Castle. Inside, there are many original features and pieces of furniture including Anne Hathaway’s bed, and exploring the cottage as well as the picturesque market town itself, makes a wonderful day trip.

If you prefer nature then you can visit lots of beautiful gardens and parklands including the Brandon Marsh Nature Centre in Coventry, owned by the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust. Opened by Sir David Attenborough, visitors can explore this stunning nature reserve and stop off for tea and a cake at the little tea shop in the centre. There is also the lovely Hartshill Hayes Country Park which is close to Nuneaton and is a vast area of woodland and rolling hills, with splendid views over the beautiful Anker Valley – perfect for picnics and walks with your loved one.
